Townsville to Airlie Beach

Our last day in Townsville went for  a game of golf at the Townsville Golf Club. Very pretty course and we played pretty well.
Left Townsville to drive to Ayr. The countryside was really nice. Mountains on one side and paddocks on the other. Lots of sugarcane also.
We stopped at Homehill to check out the town. There was a comfort stop there and there would have been about 20 cars camped there. Lots of backpackers music playing . A very happenning place.
We drove on to a free camp and pulled in very early. We watched the park fill up all afternoon. Totally full by 5 oclock.
Today drove to Airlie Beach. Very pretty place. Hills like Cairns and lots of rainforest. Found our caravan park and set up. On a hill. Went for a drive and saw where the boats leave for the islands. The water was a light turquoise colour. We went up to a lookout and you could see some of  the islands very close to shore. Even Hamilton Island wasn't that far away.
The waterfront at Airlie Beach was set out really well. They had a long swimming pool surrounded by walkways and playgrounds.
Off on a cruise tomorrow to see the Whitsundays.
